John Wesley Sorensen, age 53, of Cisne, Illinois, passed away Sunday evening, November 23, 2025, at his home.

      He was born July 14, 1972, in Woodstock, the son of David Sorensen and Teri V. (Young) Pfortmiller.

      John spent much of his working life on the road as a truck driver for Knapp Oil Company in Xenia and Peterson Trucking in Hampshire.  When he was home, he enjoyed fishing, woodworking, and tinkering in the garage, always finding something to build or repair.  More than anything, he dearly loved his family.

      He is survived by his father: David (Devonna) Sorensen of Mulberry, Arkansas; girlfriend: Barbara “Barbie” Bechtel of Cisne; 2 daughters: Hannah Sorensen of Bloomington and Destenie Sorensen of Bloomington; a son: Cameron Tate of Cisne; 4 grandchildren: Dawson Curtis, Baylee Sorensen, Abel Kindhart, and Saige Kindhart, all of Bloomington; siblings: Lisa (Johnny) Wallace of Xenia and David Sorensen II. of Elgin; several nieces and nephews; and an aunt: Mary Freeman of Xenia.

      He was preceded in death by his mother: Teri Pfortmiller; a sister: Brenda (Bill) Cordray; and stepfather: Theodore Pfortmiller.
