Funeral: 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 11, 2021, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora

Floyd LaVerl Birk, age 73, of Flora, Illinois, passed away Sunday morning, August 8, 2021, at Flora Gardens Care Center.
LaVerl was born May 14, 1948, in Mattoon, the son of Floyd Dean and Helen Louise (Whalen) Birk.
LaVerl accepted and offered love unconditionally to everyone in his life. He enjoyed participating in his workshops. He appreciated choosing what he would wear each day, and especially prized gifts of new wristwatches and hats.
He is survived by a sister, Patsy Birk of Olney; and numerous cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A funeral ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 11, 2021, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora. Visitation will be from 9 until 10 a.m. prior to the ceremony. Back when he was at Flora Manor in the eighties , my mother and then my daughter worked there and I came in a lot and was always greeted by him and his sister Patsy. He was a very sweet guy and very freindly. I enjoyed seeing and talking with him.
So sorry for your loss, Laverl was a loving guy, full of fun& laughter, he will be missed by all who knew him, Lots of hugs& prayers for his sister Pasty& all the family.
