Mary Alice Copley, age 89, of Flora, Illinois, passed away Monday afternoon, January 12, 2026, at her home.
She was born October 3, 1936, in Flora, the daughter of Ray and Opal (Hough) Foster. She was united in marriage to James Wilbur “Wib” Copley in December 1987, at West Salem Christian Church, and he preceded her in passing on December 26, 2004. She later married James Elmer Hoffman on September 12, 2012, and he preceded her in passing on May 6, 2018.
For 35 years, Mary owned and operated Flora Cleaners, developing lasting relationships within the community. She was a member of Clay City Christian Church and the Flora Lucky Ramblers Camping Club, traveling for many years across the country with friends. Mary found great joy in dancing, ceramics, and spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by her 2 sons: Kevin Dannells and Kelly (Debbie) Dannells; step-daughter-in-law: Sue Ann Copley; grandchildren: Kyle (Erica) Dannells and Devin (Destiny) Dannells; step-grandchildren: Corie (John) Hortin and Devon (Matt) Green; great-grandchildren: Bay Dannells, Kinley Dannells, Tucker Dannells, Gracyn Dannells, Jaxon Dannells, and Rozlynn Dannells; step-great-grandchildren: Hunter (Madi) Hortin, Holden Hortin, Marin Green, and Hudson Green; and a step-great-great-grandchild: Harlow Hortin.
She was preceded in passing by her parents; former husbands: William “Bill” Dannells, Wayne Willison, James “Wib” Copley, and James Hoffman; 2 stepsons: Jim Copley and Don Copley.
A memorial ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at Clay City Christian Church with Nate Whisler officiating. A visitation will be held prior to the ceremony, from 10 until 11 a.m. on Saturday at the church. Private interment will take place in Elmwood Cemetery, Flora. Arrangements are by Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora. Memorial donations are suggested to Clay County Hospice or Clay City Christian Church, and these will be accepted through the funeral home.
