LaDonna Jean Goodman, age 80, of Louisville, Illinois, passed away on Sunday afternoon, March 1, 2026, at her home.
She was born September 1, 1945, in Louisville, the daughter of Robert L. and Imogene (Moore) Goodman.
LaDonna devoted many years of her life to hard work and caring for others as an in-home caregiver, where she compassionately helped those who needed a little extra support. Caring for others wasn’t just a job to her — it was simply who she was.
LaDonna had a creative and busy spirit. She loved to crochet, knit, and quilt, often making special pieces for her family that will be treasured for years to come. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life, like hunting mushrooms in the spring, working in her garden, watching birds at her feeders, or simply spending time with those she loved.
She enjoyed working puzzles, video gaming, and especially playing board games like Yahtzee and Phase 10 with her grandkids. Holidays were also a special time, and food was always the main event. LaDonna was a great cook and truly loved cooking for her family. She enjoyed traveling with her children and grandchildren whenever she was able, creating memories they will forever hold close. Each season of her life brought something for her to enjoy.
Her faith, kindness, and love for her family will live on forever in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her. Though our hearts are broken, we take comfort in knowing she is now at peace in the presence of our Lord and Savior.
LaDonna leaves behind the greatest joys of her life, children: Gena (David) Eade of Flora, Joni Green of St. Louis, Missouri, Larry (Michelle) Meares of Salina, Kansas, Dakoda James of St. Louis, Missouri, and Nathan Buchanan of Louisville; grandchildren: Tyson (Cassondra) Wyman, Taylor (Eric) Stidham, Brittany (Brian) Braun, Amber (Ryan) Miller, Chelsea (Zach) Link, Megan Wade (Joel Holtz), Jordan Meares, Gabi Downey, Belle Meares (David Brown), Allyson Buchanan, Carmen Buchanan, Liberty Buchanan, and Larkin Buchanan; step-grandchildren: Austin (Charlene) Eade, Ryan Eade (April Bryan), and Landon (Kaitlyn) Eade; 28 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; siblings: Bonnie (John) Britton of Louisville, Shirley (Don) Bailey of Kinmundy, Matt (Debbie) Goodman of Louisville, Mark (Kris) Goodman of Louisville, and Tony (Dianne) Goodman of Fisher; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family.
She was preceded in passing by her parents; a son: Jeremy Buchanan; brother: Danny Bob Goodman; and a great-grandson: Parker Meares.
A funeral ceremony will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora with Kelly Carruthers officiating. Interment will follow in Orchard Hill Cemetery, Louisville. A visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
