Bruce Edwin Lane, age 73, of Kinmundy, Illinois, passed away Thursday evening, July 10, 2025, at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon.
He was born September 27, 1951, in Flora, the son of Ralph and Mary Sue (Poore) Lane. He was united in marriage to Patricia Ann Guerrettaz on August 7, 1971, at St. Stephen Catholic Church in Flora, and together they have shared almost 54 wedding anniversaries.
Bruce was a dedicated and skilled mechanic. He spent many years of employment at Joe Hotze Ford, Max Dye, and later retired working for the City of Salem. Bruce also dedicated time serving as a Reserve Police Officer with the City of Salem. After retirement, he worked part-time at O’Reily Auto Parts in Flora.
He spent time relaxing with his wife, Pat. They loved to go to antique shops, camp, fish, garden, and spend time with their grandchildren. After retirement they had made many trips together traveling to new places. Bruce was a proud father and grandfather. He adored his two granddaughters and was happy to spoil them.
Bruce enjoyed the outdoors. He loved fishing, hunting, and riding motorcycles. He also had an eye for photography. He loved taking pictures of his family. You might often find him visiting with his buddies. He truly enjoyed his friends and made great memories with them over the years.
He is survived by his wife: Pat Lane of Kinmundy; a daughter: Brooke Lane of St. Rose; 2 granddaughters: Regan Kluemke and Rylie Kluemke; 2 brothers: Rodger (Betty) Lane of Paulding, Ohio and Gary (Terry) Lane of Flora; a sister: Debbie (Tom) Steppe of Effingham; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
He was preceded in passing by his parents; and a beloved son: Brandon Eric Lane.
A funeral ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora. Interment will follow in Cisne Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
