Francis L. Morris, age 90, of Clay City, Illinois, passed away Friday morning, June 7, 2019, at Helia Healthcare in Olney.
He was born November 9, 1928, in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, the son of John L. Morris and Patricia Florence (Poppe) Morris. He was united in marriage to Evelyn M. Brown on September 1, 1949, in Noble and they shared 66 years of marriage. She passed away September 22, 2015.
Fran spent his life working as a farmer, and in timber and logging, and operating a sawmill. He and Evelyn enjoyed traveling to Florida, and dancing together. He was a past active member of the Loyal Order of Moose.
He is survived by 3 sons: Steve (Jane) Morris of Clay City, David (Karen) Morris of Clay City, and Rodger (Ronna) Morris of Olney; 4 grandchildren: Joseph (Mei) Morris of Mattoon, Ryan (Mary) Morris of Clay City, and Rachel (Gabe) Helms and Katie Morris, both of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; and 4 great-grandchildren: Jackson, Hazel, and Neil Morris, Natalie Helms; and also one soon expected great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and a brother: Jon L. Morris.
A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 11, 2019, at Hanna Cemetery, Noble, with Doyle Williams officiating. Those attending may come directly to the cemetery. Francis and Evelyn was neighbors and friends when us kids were growing up. Rode bicycles by there all the time. Prayers go out to Steve, David, Rodger and their families. God bless!
