Barbara Jeane McNicol Bargh, age 94, of Flora, Illinois, passed away peacefully at 12:30 a.m. Sunday, March 22, 2026, at Axiom Healthcare of Flora.
She was born on December 19, 1931, in Patoka, Illinois. She was the youngest of 7 children.
With Barbara's passing, the generation of James G. McNicol and Florence Arnold McNicol's children has come to an end, as Barbara was the final surviving child of her parents. Barbara's siblings included Hilda Adams, Mildred Herring, Dorothy Garrett, Helen Feather, Mary Chandler, and James McNicol.
She was welcomed into her heavenly home by her parents and siblings; her husband of 38 years, Joseph Pullen Bargh Sr.; her son, Joseph “Jay” Pullen Bargh Jr.; and her son, Richard Scott Bargh.
She is survived by her 2 daughters, Denise Bargh Burke and Jane (Bill) O'Dell; 9 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren, with another expected in June. She leaves behind many nieces and nephews. She was a loving and caring grandmother and great-grandmother. All her life lessons were passed on to them, and they will cherish the lessons they learned from her as they hold to her precious memory.
Barbara was a devout member of Flora First Christian Church. She never met a stranger, and everyone who knew her loved her.
She would stop whatever she was doing to help wherever she was needed, which made her an excellent hospice helper as well as an in-home health caregiver. She never judged. She saw everyone equally. She will be greatly missed by all who love her.
A private service for immediate family only will be held on Friday, March 27, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora, with interment at Evergreen Cemetery in Kinmundy. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the Axiom Healthcare Activity Fund. To share a condolence or memory, visit: www.frankandbright.com

Denise, I’m so very sorry for your loss. Mothers are the very heart of the home. At the same time, with age and her health situation I know she is now free of those things that held her down, she is healed and looking straight into the eyes of her Lord and Savior. Please know you remain in my prayers and I will be praying for you as you lay your mother to rest. Bless you my friend.
I first met Barbara at our Bible Study at Axiom on Sundays. She was a faithful attendee always with a smile. Remembering your family in prayer . . . Christians never say goodbye.
You're not alone in your grief from the passing of your mom, grandmother, great grandmother. Her presence in my life for some 60 years has been infrequent, but cherished.
Prayers for family for the loss of a very Sweet Lady. Joy to visit with & always provided a smile.
I'm so sorry Jane! I loved her!
With love and prayers, David Lewis
