Patricia Fawn Fitzgerald, age 92, of Flora, Illinois, passed away Friday morning, October 17, 2025, at her home.
She was born March 16, 1933, in Flora, the daughter of Delmar and Bertha Almeda (Asher) Hendricks. She was united in marriage to Robert Dale Fitzgerald on March 19, 1952, and together they shared 66 wedding anniversaries until his passing on October 14, 2018.
Patricia had worked at the garment factory in Flora, lovingly babysat for many children over the years, and had retired from driving a school bus for Flora School District #35—a job she greatly enjoyed. She treasured family time and looked forward to any opportunity to take her children on trips. Some of her favorite memories were traveling to see the mountains and rock hunting in Colorado.
She is survived by her 3 daughters: Becky Murbarger of Flora, Tanya (James) Prather of Flora, and Belinda Fitzgerald of Shelton, Washington; grandchildren: Tricia Murbarger, Kyle (Brandy) Murbarger, Jamie (Korey) Barksdale, John (Heather) Hayes, and Cassie Hall; great-grandchildren: Zoe, Sawyer, and Landen Murbarger, Garrett Barksdale, Matthew and Lucas Hayes, Easton Daugherty, and Stella Hall; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a son-in-law: John Murbarger; a great-grandson: Brody Barksdale; and siblings: Evelyn Marvel, Dorothy Bachman, Vera Hendricks, Wanda Cox, and 2 brothers.
A funeral ceremony will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, October 23, 2025, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora. A visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday evening at the funeral home. I remember this sweet woman from childhood (friends with all three of you girls) with much warmth and care. Also drove bus at same time as she and her husband. She will be much missed as she was a fine, caring woman. Condolences.
