Visitation: 5-7 p.m. on Thursday evening at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora and from 10-11 a.m. on Friday morning at the church

David Randal “Randy” Hardy, age 70, of Clay City, Illinois, passed away Monday afternoon, July 7, 2025, at Clay County Hospital.
He was born December 12, 1954, in Flora, the son of Jake Eugene Hardy and Mary Patricia (Tatman) Hardy. He was united in marriage to Nancy A. Cox on July 9, 1976, at Hoosier Prairie Baptist Church in Louisville, and together they shared almost 49 years of marriage.
Randy loved spending time outdoors, especially when fishing or hiking. He had traveled to several scenic locations as scout leader over the years, including New Mexico and the Appalachian and Rocky Mountains. Randy earned his pilot’s license and especially enjoyed experiencing the beauty of nature from the air, holding a deep appreciation for its many wonders. He studied electronics after high school and remained a lifelong hobbyist with an interest in technology and computers. He also enjoyed playing the guitar and making music with friends over the years. Randy retired after 25 years with Greenwood Pest Control and was a member of Hoosier Prairie Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife: Nancy Hardy of Clay City; 3 children: Scott (Miranda) Hardy of Louisville, Kentucky, Laura Hardy (Klint Griffith) of Mt. Erie, and Bradley Hardy of Louisville, Kentucky; 5 grandchildren: Hazel, Harlow, and Hope Hardy, Cameran Riley, and Luna Griffith; mother-in-law: Marilyn Cox of Flora; stepmother: Janet Hardy of Flora, stepsister: Tina (Mike) Winka of Flora; sisters-in-law: Sandy (Brian) Gansauer and Carla (Travis) Hildebrand; brother-in-law: Darrell Cox; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in passing by his parents; a sister: Beth Hardy; father-in-law: Carl Wayne Cox; and a sister-in-law: Dawn Cox.
A funeral ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 11, 2025, at Hoosier Prairie Baptist Church in Louisville with Pastor Sam Neill officiating. Interment will follow in Hoosier Prairie Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday evening at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora and from 10-11 a.m. on Friday morning at the church. Memorial donations are suggested to Boy Scout Troop 8282 or Hoosier Prairie Baptist Church, and these will be accepted through the funeral home.
