Wanda Jane Stallings, age 87, of Mt. Carmel, passed away Monday morning, August 22, 2022, at Oakview Nursing & Rehabilitation in Mt. Carmel.
She was born June 3, 1935, in Peoria Heights, the daughter of Fred S. and Esther Loraine (Reed) Slade. She married Don Walker in 1954, and to this union 5 children were born. She was later united in marriage to Ralph Stallings in 1978, in Orlando, Florida, and he preceded her in death in 2015.
Wanda had attended several area churches where she was very involved, helping when she could. She enjoyed crocheting, playing the organ, and listening to gospel music.
She is survived by her children: Michael Walker of Middletown, Indiana, Nancy Robinson of Mt. Carmel, and Lisa (Ray) Hartley of Bridgeport; grandchildren: David, Shanna, Brian, Stephanie, Michelle, Jeramy, Erica, Mary, Hagan, Daniel, Christopher, and Kacie; 13 great-grandchildren; a sister: Loraine Leathers of Spring Hill, Florida; and a niece: Lynn Davis of Florida.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; 2 daughters: Donna Powell and Iva Branham; a brother: Don Slade; and a great-granddaughter: Kristina Rose.

Sympathy to the family. Wanda was a sweet person. She was my babysitter back in the 50's. Her sister Loraine, too. They were mother's helpers for my family , Albert & Lela Michels. We lived NE of Cisne, not far from the Slade home. Such great memories of Wanda from then. Still have her high school picture. To the family, let the memories help you thru this difficult time.
One of the wittiest women I have ever taken care of! I will miss her dearly. She was a very special woman.
