Carol A. Service, age 69, of Hord, Illinois, passed away Saturday morning, July 9, 2022, at the Carle Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney, surrounded by her caring family.

     She was born July 30, 1952, in Elgin, the daughter of John and Anna (Kline) Service.

     Carol worked in customer service most of her life, and most recently worked at Huck’s in Flora.  She enjoyed bingo and scratch off tickets, gardening, and rides on her side-by-side.  Carol was a loving person with a quick wit and wonderful sense of humor.   She was known for her lasagna and rolls and would often have her family over for dinner to enjoy these specialties.  Carol was a loving mother, grandma, and great grandma who would teach her grandchildren silly songs and rhymes.  She was a very accepting person who treated you like family when she got to know you. 

     She is survived by her children: Brandy (Donnie) Brown of Hord, Stephen Jacobs of Hord, Nathan (Emily) Nottingham of Piggott, Arkansas, 2 siblings: Mary Nichols and Jeff (Cheryl) Service; 10 grandchildren: Amber Brown, Felicia (Daniel) Fopay, Rachel Kincaid, Gabrielle (Brian) English, Damien (Lauren) Brown, Kyle Nottingham, Cody Nottingham (Kat), Seth Nottingham, Caleb Nottingham Ashton Reed; 7 great grandchildren: Xavier Brown, Jayden, and Gavin Parish, Elam, Quincy, and Piper Fopay, Everett Kincaid, and Christian Nottingham on the way; sister-in-law: Rose Service; and special friends: Marsha Service and Megan Booher.  She is preceded in death by her parents; a granddaughter: Makenzie Nottingham; brother: John Service; and a brother-in-law: Tim Nichols.

     A celebration of Carol’s life will be held at 4 p.m. on Friday, July 15, 2022, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora.  Visitation will be held from 2 until 4 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.  Arrangements are by Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora.  Memorials are suggested to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and will be accepted though the funeral home.  To share a condolence or memory, visit:  www.frankandbright.com
