Celebration of Life: 6 p.m. on Friday, November 6, 2026, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home
Visitation: 4-6 p.m. on Friday evening at the funeral home
Chandra Anne Martin, age 39, of Flora, Illinois, passed away Wednesday evening, October 28, 2026.
She was born February 22, 1987, in Flora, the daughter of Doug and Angela Lee (Owen) Thomas. She was raised by her mother, Angela, and father, Larry Stephen Martin.
Chandra worked in customer service at AT&T and Heartland Dental. She had a special way of showing love, often through the little things that meant so much. Cooking was her love language, and she expressed her love through the meals she prepared and the happiness she found in sharing them with family and friends. She also enjoyed crafting and creating beautiful pieces of diamond art, a hobby that allowed her creativity and patience to shine. Time spent with her nephew, Garrett, held a special place in her heart. Those moments together were precious to her and created memories that will be carried close forever.
Chandra had recently given her life to Christ. As a member of the First Church of God in Flora, she found purpose in serving others and sharing God's love by volunteering in the nursery. She also volunteered with Celebrate Recovery and had been nominated to serve as an ambassador for its Friendship Connection, a role focused on sharing stories of hope and offering encouragement and support to others in the community.
She is survived by her mother: Angela Martin of Flora; father: Doug Thomas of Minnesota; siblings: Alexander Martin of Flora, Madison (Quentin) Young of Clay City, Ashley Cannata of Florida, and Harold (Jennifer) Frost of Rinard; a niece and nephew: Lilly Young and Garrett Young, both of Clay City; bonus siblings: Brandon O’Conner, Sherayeah Blackledge, Mychal Bush-King, Myles Bush-King, MyLinn Bush-King, Mykell Bush-King, Tasha Gray, Kenzie Windle, and Kelly Moats; aunts: Suzanne Acree of Flora, Teresa Martin (Rendell Dingman) of Rinard, Sheila Kapes, and Pam Benson; a bonus aunt: Lisa Johns, who she lovingly referred to as “Dad”; uncles: Gary Martin of Flora and James Thomas; cousins: Adrienne Martin and Matthew Martin, both of Flora; and her beloved dog, Thor.
She was preceded in passing by her father: Larry Martin; maternal grandparents: David and Anna Owen; paternal grandparents: John and Carolyn Martin and Jimmie and Della Thomas; aunts: Nancy (Carol) Lagle, Carolyn Byers, Vicki Burkett, and Becky Martin; an uncle: Steve “Lumpy” Acree; and cousins: Brandon Bickers and Jacob Moseley.
A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held at 6 p.m. on Friday, November 6, 2026, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora with Pastor Mike Davis officiating. A visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m. on Friday evening at the funeral home. Memorial donations are suggested to the family to assist with final expenses, and these will be accepted through the funeral home. To share a condolence or memory, visit: www.frankandbright.com
