A Celebration of Life is planned for a later date.
Patricia Irene Payne, age 60, of Flora, Illinois, passed away early Monday morning, September 7, 2026, at Deaconess Midtown Hospital in Evansville, Indiana.
She was born December 17, 1965, in Monticello, the daughter of Gary Wayne and Teresa Irene (Eades) McCormick.
Patty worked as a CNA for 40 years, devoting much of her career to caring for others. She also worked at the Flora Diner and in the dietary department at Heritage Woods of Flora, forming many friendships along the way. She was a member of the Flora VFW and American Legion Auxiliary.
Patty had an infectious laugh and a fun-loving personality that could brighten a room. She especially looked forward to decorating for birthdays and holidays, always wanting those occasions to feel special. Generous by nature, she was willing to give just about anything to someone who could use it—as long as she knew it wouldn’t go to waste. She treasured getting together with her close group of friends, affectionately known as the “Scooby Gang.” They could often be found listening to music, especially ’80s rock, shopping, or watching comedy movies. Above all, she held the moments shared with her daughter, son-in-law, and grandsons closest to her heart.
She is survived by her daughter: Sausha McCormick (Brody Martell) of Flora; grandsons: Gavin, Ryker, Levyn, and Manny; her father: Gary McCormick of Decatur; sister: Betz Giberson of Tell City, Indiana; brother: Brandon McCormick of Decatur; former husbands: Randy Payne of Flora and Toby Bullard of Jonesboro; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends she considered family.
She was preceded in passing by her mother: Teresa Giberson; her stepfather: Roger Giberson; grandparents: Francis and Elsie McCormick; an uncle: Larry (Jane) McCormick; and special friend: Brandy Cook.
A Celebration of Life is planned for a later date. Arrangements are by Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora. Memorial donations are suggested to assist the family with expenses, and these will be accepted through the funeral home. Please make checks payable to Patty Payne Donations.
