Michael “Mike” Patrick Griffin, age 79, of Flora, and formerly of Champaign, Illinois, and West End, North Carolina, passed away Sunday afternoon, March 29, 2026, in Evansville, Indiana.
He was born September 9, 1946, in Champaign, the son of John “Jack” Orville and Carol Jean (Johnston) Griffin.
Mike worked as a carpenter for a company in North Carolina for many years until he reached retirement. He enjoyed fishing, camping, and gardening. He loved his family and really enjoyed just sitting back listening to everyone visit. Mike always had a small dog that he would spoil more than his own kids.
He is survived by his children: Mike (Marki) Griffin of Port Orchard, Washington, Angela (Rob) McKnight of Flora, and Heather (Michele) Griffin of Italy; a step-daughter: Teresa (Ed) Whitlatch of Champaign; 7 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters: Vicky (Steve) Willis of Monticello and Cathy Kelly of Thomasboro; several nieces and nephews; his beloved dog, Poppy; and close friend, Gene.
He was preceded in passing by his parents; sister: Betty VanMetre; special friends: Brenda DiSandro and Myrtle Griffin; and beloved dog, Spice.

Mike was a talented hardwood floor finisher (many floor finshers by trade but few as good as Mike, the company he worked for no longer provids this servce do to lack of talented finihers) from the eighties thru the two thousand tens in Moore County NC. We rode to work together for several years, never heard him say anything bad about anyone.
