Danette Stanley, age 68, of Flora, Illinois, and formerly of Clay City, passed away Thursday, July 21, 2022, at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Evansville, Indiana.
She was born March 16, 1954, in San Diego, California, the daughter of Danny and Marilyn (Erwin) Cockerell. Danette married Robert Alan Stanley on December 29, 1979, at the Clay City Baptist church, and she and Alan have celebrated 42 anniversaries together.
Danette had been the owner and operator of her family business, D & M Trucking. She was often busy with work and tending to her home and yardwork, but enjoyed getting away to spend time at Anna Maria Island beach near her home in Bradenton, Florida. She especially loved her family and cherished her grandchildren. She had no problem with making every effort to spoil them when she could.
She is survived by her husband: Alan Stanley of Flora; a son: Christopher Hargrove of Clay City; 2 daughters: Teresa Atwood (Jacob Heisner) of Cisne and Tera (Matt) Conklin of Flora; her mother: Marilyn Cockerell of Clay City; a brother and a sister: Danny Wayne Cockerell and Janette Wells, both of Clay City; grandchildren: Shelbie, Sydney, Hailey, Alexis, Bristol, Danica, Dane, and Dylan; 3 great-grandchildren; and a special niece: Stacie Lewis. She was preceded in death by her father: Danny Cockerell and a sister: Annette Danmeir.
A funeral ceremony celebrating the life of Danette will begin at 10 a.m. Monday, July 25, 2022, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora. Interment will follow in Clay City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorial donations are suggested to Clay County Cancer Crusaders, and will be accepted through the funeral home. I WILL TERRIBLY MISS MY BEAUTIFUL BEST FRIEND. MY HEART BREAKS AND WILL KEEP ALL THE FAMILY IN MY PRAYERS. SO MANY WONDERFUL MEMORIES WITH DANETTE AND ALAN. SO SAD THAT WE DIDN'T GET TO GO ON OUR NEXT ADVENTURE. WE HAD PLANNED TO TAKE A MONTH OR TWO AND GO OUT WEST. I WILL HAVE AN ANGRY ORCHARD IN HER MEMORY.
