Mike was a very good friend of mine. He loved to play cards and we met two times a week over the past several years to play cards, usually 4-5 hours a night. He was very good and most occasions won. Mike had two great loves. 1st was for veterans. He would often got to Veteran funerals and send them off with a 21 gun salute. But even greater was his love for his granddaughter. Sometimes he would miss games just to stay home with her. He spoke of her often and loved doing things with her. He watched a lot of movies with her. He told me that her favorite movie was "Annie" and they had watched it so many times that they wore it out. I remember he had me order a new copy for her. Mike was a kind man and had respect for all those he was around. He truly will be missed.
I know how much military veterans meant to Mike, and I know how much he did to help their memorials. rest in peace comrade you deserve it.

I was so sad to hear this news! Mike and I were classmates all through school in Flora. He was always a kind, friendly person. Because I moved from Illinois, I didn’t get to see him often in recent years, but we enjoyed short conversations catching up at class reunions or chance meetings at grocery stores, etc. I know he loved his family dearly and I will be keeping you all in my prayers.
