Joyce Bissey, age 72, of Flora, IL passed away at 5:37 a.m. Wednesday, June 05, 2013 at Clay County Hospital in Flora.

Joyce was born July 14, 1940 at home in Clay City, IL to Everett and Nica (Luke) Conner. During her life she worked at Kerns Manufacturing, Clay County Hospital as a CNA, and at North American Lighting. Her most important job was to be mother to her 9 children and many others who she treated like her children. Joyce was a loyal and active member of Faith Tabernacle, a member of Clay County Senior Citizens, and enjoyed playing Pinochle and spending time with her friends.

She is survived by her 8 children: Larry Bissey (Susie Churchill) of Sailor Springs, Paula Young (Terry) of Flora, Tina Stanley of Louisville, Mindy Green (Rick) of Flora, Sam Sanders (Kenny) of Claremont, Everett Bissey (Pam) of Cisne, Terrance Bissey of Flora, Jason Bissey (Ashley) of Xenia; a brother: John Conner (Maryann) of Flora; 24 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, a son Dale Ray, and siblings Harold Conner, Lester Conner, and Betty Pate.

The funeral service for Joyce Bissey will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 8, 2013 at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora. Burial will be in Rusk Cemetery, rural Flora. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Friday, June 7, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the family to assist with expenses.
