Annie Mae Douthit, age 74, of Flora, Illinois, passed away Thursday morning, June 9, 2016, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon, Illinois.
Annie was born October 22, 1941, in Alabama. She was married to Cecil “Fred” Shelton and later to Richard E. Burkett. Annie then married Troy Eugene “Gene” Douthit on October 19, 1982. He preceded her in death November 3, 2014. During the years she worked at area hospitals and also at the Flora Elks. Annie loved her dogs and enjoyed collecting dolls.
She is survived by 3 sons: James “Jim” (Leslie) Shelton of Evansville, IN, Cecil (Tara) Shelton of Flora, and Jason (Annette) Burkett of Flora; 6 grandchildren: Alisa, Charley, Dani, Jason Christopher, Dillon, and Logan; 2 stepsons: Larry (Debbie) Douthit of Newburg, IN and Mark (Cheryl) Forth of Andrews, IN; 4 stepdaughters: Gina Douthit of Flora, Kayla (Kevin) Steele of Flora, Brandi Vaughn of Magnolia, KY, and Christina Forth Daggett of Andrews, IN; stepdaughter-in-law: Mary Douthit of Evansville, IN; 2 sisters: Sara (Larry) Collins of Illinois and Marie (Joe) Adair of Georgia; and a number of step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband: Gene Douthit, a stepson: Danny Douthit, 2 step-grandsons: Brent Shroyer and Derek Windle, a step-granddaughter: Natasha Windle, and several brothers and sisters.
A funeral service for Annie Douthit will be 1 p.m. Monday, June 13, 2016, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home, Flora, with visitation from 12 noon until the hour of service on Monday. Pastor Richard Artis will officiate. Interment will be in the Floral Garden of Memories. Memorial donations in Annie’s memory may be given to Fur A Good Paws and will be accepted through the funeral home.

Annie will be greatly missed. She was such a good friend to me and my family. Prayers to her family.

I am sorry to hear of Annie's passing. I always enjoyed her friendship. She and Gene were good friends to me. No longer does she have to suffer from her health problems. She is singing in Heaven now. RIP Annie ❤️

Prayers to the Family. Annie was a Delight to all. I shall always remember the trips to the Dr. in Evansville. We always ate out, then went to the $ Tree before coming home. Oh, so much fun and laughter on those trips I will never forget.
