Larry Ray Henderson, age 84, of Flora, Illinois, passed away Tuesday morning, August 11, 2026, at Axiom Gardens of Flora.

      He was born March 16, 1942, in Rinard, the son of Pearl Richard and Doris Genelle (Thomas) Henderson.  He was united in marriage to Joyce Joann Williams on December 31, 1969, in Clay County, and together they shared 56 wedding anniversaries.

      Larry found great enjoyment in the outdoors, whether planting trees, working in the yard, or simply watching for eagles.  He especially loved his pets, including his beloved dogs, Trouble and Pepper.  He also enjoyed a good cup of coffee, a simple pleasure that was part of many of his days.  Some of his greatest joys came from spending time with his grandchildren and being surrounded by family.

      Larry was a devoted St. Louis Cardinals fan and had a special appreciation for old tractors and classic cars.  His faith was also an important part of his life.  He loved attending church, and he and Joyce were faithful members of Christ’s Church in Flora. Above all, Larry loved his family and treasured the time they shared together.

      He is survived by his wife: Joyce Henderson of Flora; children: Norman (Comelia) Henderson of Olney, Dan (Jill) Henderson of Flora, and Vivian Sue (Tom) Taylor of Taylorville; 7 grandchildren: Brandie (Chad) Beckham of Mt. Vernon, Jeremy (Sarah) Henderson of Flora, Leighton Taylor of Nashville, Tennessee, Ryan Taylor of Mico, Texas, Nicole (Aaron) Goodwin of Lenoir, North Carolina, Tomi (Jared) Taylor Rubsam of Mt. Zion, and Kate (Jacob) Allen of Kell; 3 step-grandchildren: Crystal Saathoff, Jessica Stevens, and Tyler Aldrich; 12 great-grandchildren: Jaydan Rubsam, Jaycie Beckham, Liam Beckham, Ava Rae Taylor, Isaak Rubsam, Hudsyn Beckham, Lyla Rubsam, Cooper Goodwin, Hallie Allen, Hannah Henderson, Chase Goodwin, Miles Allen, plus baby boy Goodwin on the way; 10 step-great-grandchildren; a brother: Dean (Sally) Henderson of Dwight; and 2 sisters-in-law: Linda (Danny) Daugherty of Uniontown, Kentucky, and Frances Krantz of Flora.

      He was preceded in passing by his parents: Pearl and Genelle Henderson; parents-in-law: Frank and Verna Williams; daughter-in-law: Elicia Henderson; a brother: Marvin Henderson; and a brother-in-law: Rob Krantz.

      A funeral ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, August 20, 2026, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora with Caleb Baker officiating.  Interment will follow in Bunker Cemetery, Rinard.  A visitation will be held from 5 until 7 p.m. on Wednesday evening, August 19, at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers and gifts, the family suggests memorial donations in Larry’s memory be made to Christ’s Church Student Ministries, and these will be accepted through the funeral home.  To share a condolence or memory, visit: www.frankandbright.com
