William “Bill” Edward Holman, age 67, of Flora, Illinois, passed away Sunday, July 26, 2026, at his home surrounded by his loving family.  As he took his final breath, a roll of thunder sounded, and shortly afterward, a rainbow appeared in the sky—a sight that brought comfort and peace to his family.

      He was born November 20, 1958, in Decatur, the son of George Daniel and Jessie Lorene (Slater) Holman.  On February 4, 1978, Bill married Cari Romero in Decatur, beginning a life together that would bring 48 wedding anniversaries and many treasured memories.

      Bill worked several years with Creek Enterprises and also worked in construction throughout the years.  He loved riding his Harley-Davidson and spending time outdoors, whether hunting, fishing, searching for interesting rocks, or looking for arrowheads.  He went all out for the holidays, especially Christmas, when the light display he and Cari created was enjoyed by many throughout the community.  

      Above all, Bill truly loved his family and cherished every moment spent with his grandchildren.  He always looked forward to vacations with the entire family, where there was never a shortage of laughter, fun, and good memories made together.

      He is survived by his wife: Cari Holman of Flora; children: William Joseph (Jill) Holman of Sanford, North Carolina, Aaron (Elizabeth) Holman of Flora, and Teresa (Jason) Doyle of Cisne; grandchildren: Hannah (Jacob) Grady, Dustin (Heather), Deanna, Jayven, and Luca Doyle, and Izabel and Eli Holman; 1 great-grandson: Warren Hutchcraft; 4 brothers: Bennie “Ben,” Will, Anthony “Andy,” and Duffy; 2 sisters: Peggy and Mary; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

      He was preceded in passing by his parents; grandparents; and a sister: Debra.
