Perry Ray Harrington, age 75, of Flora, Illinois, passed away Friday afternoon, March 13, 2026, at his home.
He was born August 18, 1950, in Clay County, the son of William Henry and Ethel I. (Scammahorn) Harrington.
Perry worked for 17 years at NAL in Flora and also served his community as Assistant Road Commissioner for Harter Township. Over the years, he was also a handyman and self-employed carpenter, taking pride in his craftsmanship and his ability to fix or build just about anything.
In his spare time, Perry enjoyed the outdoors and working with his hands. He especially liked fishing, hunting, and woodworking. He also had a fondness for antiquing and collecting knives, and he spent many hours searching for unique finds. Perry was a past member of the Flora Eagles and a member of the Flora Sons of the American Legion Post 14.
He is survived by his children: Tim Fender (Cynthia Thoma), Wanda Ashbaugh, Henry (Michele)Harrington, Ben (Tiffany) Harrington, and Sherry (Eric) Shreffler; 18 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; siblings: Leland Harrington, Lois Workman, Daisy Krutsinger, John Harrington, and Betsy Eckelberry; and his faithful kitten, Pokey.
He was preceded in passing by his parents; siblings: Jeanette Hembree, Joyce Hayes, Betty Hartsey, Pauline Burgess, Ed Mefford, and Doris Cruise; and his significant other: Bernita Sampson.

Sorry to hear of Perry’s passing, knew him since childhood, talked to him occasionally at Walmart

I sure am going to miss you Uncle Perry. Going to the auctions wont be the same not being able to find you and hang out with you for the day, making everyone wonder what we are laughing about.
Perry was wonderful when he fixed my grandma's pie safe. He was excellent doing wood work. Perry was also very nice. So sorry for your loss.
