Juanita Peacher, born November 30, 1929, passed away at the age of 96 on December 25, 2025, at St. Anthony’s Hospital in Effingham, Illinois, with her daughter Kathy by her side.
Juanita was united in marriage to Alfred Peacher, and they shared 63 years together before his passing. They were blessed with four children: a son, Gerald (Diana) Peacher; and three daughters, Judith (Chris) Bowlby, Kathy (Tom) Ham, and Kristie Peacher.
She was a proud grandmother to six grandchildren: Brian, Lori (Tim), John, Russ, Ryan (Courtney), and Nathan (Carla); fourteen great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren, all of whom she adored.
Juanita was one of eight siblings, along with: Violet (Ray) Stanford, Lola (Lou) Wilkins, Virginia (Bishop) Cummings, William (Elsie) Hinkle, Patricia (Galen) Kessel, Thomas (Ruth) Hinkle, and Sue (Charles) Hemrich. She also leaves behind many loved nieces and nephews, including special niece caregivers Kay and Gayle.
A lifelong member of Red Brush Christian Church, Juanita attended the original church with her parents as a child and later helped build the present church alongside her husband. She devoted many years to teaching Bible school and provided daycare from her home for 30 years. Juanita faithfully read the Bible from cover to cover each year and enjoyed knitting and crocheting.
Formerly of Flora, Juanita resided at Brookstone Estates Assisted Living in Effingham for the past three years, where she enjoyed Bible study, arts and crafts, and treasured the friendships she formed with residents and staff.
Strong and fiercely independent, Juanita persevered through eight years of hemodialysis at DaVita, remaining an inspiration to those around her. She was deeply loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed, especially by her dear friend Pauline.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Ina (Porter) Hinkle; her husband, Alfred Peacher; her son, Gerald Peacher; an infant daughter, Kristie Peacher; her brother, William “Bill” Hinkle; sisters, Violet Stanford, Lola Wilkins, and Virginia Cummings; and two nieces, Pamela and Kay.
A funeral ceremony will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 3, 2026, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora with Ron Payne officiating. Burial will follow in Red Brush Cemetery, Louisville. I am deeply saddened to say goodbye to my beloved grandmother. Thinking of her brings me back to a simpler time, filled with love, laughter, and the warmth of being with family. I will always remember her and Grandpa’s beautiful 63 years together. I remember their love, joy, and the happiness they shared was truly special. I am grateful for the memories of my childhood. Going to see them, my aunts, uncles and cousins. I remember family trips, and all the fun times we shared. I find comfort in knowing that she is now reunited with Grandpa, my dear uncle, and daughter who was lost too soon. Her love and spirit will always be in my heart. Rest in peace, Grandma. I Love You.
Juanita was a dear friend. We always enjoyed visiting with her. She and Al were quite a happy couple. Condolences to her family.
Judy, Kathy and Families: We are sorry for your loss. Prayers for God’s comfort to each of you 💜
My prayers to the family. Nita was a wonderful person! She cared for my son while we lived in Flora and we remained friends after we moved back to the Chicago area. I will always be grateful for the love she and Al showed daily to my son (AJ). Rest in peace, my friend.
It’s hard to say goodbye to my wonderful grandma. She was such a generous and special person. Her kind gestures and sincere care touched everyone around her. Both she and my grandpa were truly remarkable individuals. I’ll always treasure the beautiful bond they shared during their many years together, remembering all the joy they brought into our lives. I’m so grateful for all the family moments we enjoyed when I was younger, those fun visits and get-togethers that are now such cherished memories. I will miss her dearly, but it comforts me to know she's reunited with grandpa, my uncle, and her daughter who left us too soon. Let’s find comfort and peace in our shared memories of her and draw strength from these joyful moments in the days ahead. You will always hold a special place in our hearts, Grandma. I love you!
You will be missed by all that loved you!!
She had the biggest smile and the best hugs as she greeted us to give her communion. We loved our visits with her. Your all in our prayers.
I remember spending good times with Sue growing up. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family.
Kathy, I am so glad that you and I have been best friends since we 8 years old. Your Mom always made me feel like family. I admired her strength, patience, and sweet personality and I will always remember her with love.
