Charlotte Cleone Glassford, age 80, of Flora, Illinois, passed away early Friday morning, December 19, 2025, at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.
She was born September 3, 1945, in Rinard, the daughter of Lyle Harvey and Vera Imogene (Shore) Henson. She was united in marriage to James Edgar Glassford on June 30, 1963, at McCabe General Baptist Church in Flora, beginning a lifelong union rooted in faith and devotion, and blessed with 62 wedding anniversaries.
Charlotte was a graduate of Flora High School. She was a devoted homemaker and later drove a bus for the Flora School District. She was a longtime member of McCabe General Baptist Church in Flora and later attended Xenia Christ United Church. Charlotte enjoyed watching hummingbirds, deer, and turkey. She took great pride in keeping an immaculate home.
The heart and soul of her family, Charlotte leaves behind a lasting legacy of love. Her husband, children, and grandchildren were the light of her life, and she will be missed beyond measure. Her strength and love are instilled in each of them and will continue to be their guiding light.
She is survived by her husband: Jim Glassford of Flora; a son: James Yancey (Lori) Glassford of Flora; a daughter: Tammy (Robb) Fisher of Rinard; 4 grandchildren: Sturling (Tara) Steele, Cody (Emily) Glassford, Trisha (Scott) Schumer, and Katy (Jeremiah) Allison; 7 great-grandchildren: Lyla Steele, Holten and Jensen Glassford, Wilkes and ScottieRae Schumer, and Camden and Cade Allison; a brother: Lyle Merton (Carol) Henson; nephews: Mark (Connie) Glassford and Lyle Henson; and a niece: Laurie Ann Henson.
She was preceded in passing by her parents: Lyle and Vera Henson; her father and mother-in-law: Gene and Eva Glassford; and her beloved dog, Peppi.
A funeral ceremony will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, December 22, 2025, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora with Preston Parish officiating. Interment will follow in Willow Branch Cemetery, Rinard. A visitation will be held from 1-2 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Memorial donations are suggested to Clay County Cancer Crusaders, and these will be accepted through the funeral home.
