Darrell Eugene Boyer, age 67, of Flora, Illinois, passed away early Sunday morning, December 7, 2025, at his home surrounded by his loving family and friends.
He was born September 22, 1958, in Decatur, the son of Donald Eugene and Bernadine Ann (Donley) Boyer.
Darrell was a 1976 graduate of Flora High School and later continued his education at Olney Central College. He had worked as a Control Specialist at HELLA Electronics in Flora. He was happiest outdoors—whether hunting, fishing, or out looking for artifacts. He was a history enthusiast, he loved researching, learning, and sharing his knowledge, and he always enjoyed shooting pool with friends at the Flora VFW.
He is survived by his children: Nathan (Cathy) Boyer of Flora and Ashley Boyer of Flora; 2 grandsons: Trenton Boyer and Cameron Boyer, both of Flora; siblings: David (Sharon) Boyer of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Rhonda Keck (Jim Smith) of Norris City, and Donna Boyer of Flora; brother-in-law: Joe Caudle; his former wife: Jackie Boyer of Flora; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
He was preceded in passing by his parents and a sister, Theresa Caudle.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Arrangements are by Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora. Darrell was such a unique and smart person. He was a comedian at times. He liked to talk about random things and was just a good person. Darrell was a friend. Although I did not see him often when I did we always had such a great time talking about old high school days. Darrell, I hope the fishing is great up there. R.I.P. my friend.

I am so very sorry for Darrel's family. We were classmates at FHS....I'll always remember his big smile and goofy antics. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.

Darrell was a close friend growing up on Rider Street. What one of us did the other was close by. A classmate and good friend for many years going to miss his visits. Prayers to the family to find peace at this time.
