Imagean Hodges

Oct 4th, 1937 - Apr 11th, 2025

This is a courtesy obituary placement.

Imagean Hodges, age 87, peacefully passed away on April 11, 2025, in Summerfield, Florida. She was born on October 4, 1937, in Gladden Township, Missouri. On August 15, 1953, she married the love of her life, Thomas Irvin Edward Hodges  and they enjoyed 59 years of marriage until his passing on March 7, 2012. Imagean was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and cherished friend to many.

She is survived by her devoted son, Thomas Irving Edward Hodges II, and his wife, Vickie; her loving daughter-in-law, Debra Hodges; and her treasured grandchildren: Thomas Irvin' Edward Hodges III and his wife, Tishia; Sarah Tate and her husband, Jeremy; Anthony Hodges and his wife, Rachel; Cory Hodges, Nathan Hodges, and Kristina Hodges. Her legacy continues through her great-grandchildren: Thomas Irven Edward Hodges IV and his wife, Micheala; Alexia Tate, Lucas Tate, Hunter Hodges, Luke Hodges, Ella Mae Hodges, and Adeline Hodges.

Imagean is also survived by her loving sisters: Doris Ross, Malinda Henson, and Karen Bourke, as well as her brother John Prater, many nieces, nephews, and dear friends who will remember her with love and fondness.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Thomas Irvin Edward Hodges, her son, Ricky Dale Hodges; her parents, Monroe Prater and Clara Marie Quick Prater; and her siblings: Eugene Prater, Irmadean Tognoni, Evelyn Lane, and Manual Prater.

Imagean was a woman of deep faith. She was a devoted member of First Baptist Church at The Villages, of The Villages, Florida, and gave of herself through volunteer work in the prison ministry, offering hope, compassion, and spiritual support to those in need. She had a longstanding association with the Flora Elks Lodge 1659, in Flora, Illinois, where she enjoyed fellowship and service to her community. Imagean had a passion for gardening and was gifted at bringing life to distressed plants. She could often be found lovingly tending her garden —especially drawn to the “distressed table” at local nurseries and the challenge to bring the treasures she found back to beauty again. Imagean also had a deep love of reading, and it was important to her to share that love with her grandchildren. She cherished her frequent visits to the library and passed down her passion for books, encouraging them to discover the joy and knowledge within the pages of a good story.

Imagean will be remembered for her strong, spirited, adventurous personality reminding us all to "Remember who you are".

In lieu of flowers memorial donations are suggested to Flora Elks Lodge 1659, and these may be dropped off locally at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora, or to the Marion County Library, Belleview, Florida.

A Garden Memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 24th, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, at 8470 SE 162nd Place, Summerfield, FL 34491. All who knew and loved her are welcome to attend and celebrate her life.
