Virginia Ruth Johnson, age 94, formerly of Olney, Illinois, passed away Wednesday morning, August 9, 2023, at Aperion Care in Fairfield.
She was born July 31, 1929, in Flora, to Richard O. and Cora E. (Schmidt) Sparlin. Virginia married Clarence Harris Johnson on July 31, 1948, in Morganfield, Kentucky. Clarence preceded her in passing.
Virginia enjoyed time spent boating with her family and motorcycle rides. She was a representative for Electrolux Vacuums.
She is survived by 4 children: Colleen Simms (husband, the late John) of Bridgeport, William Johnson (wife Dana) of Rinard, Janet Rodriguez (husband Keith) of Lafayette, Louisiana, and Diane Kalkowski (husband, the late John) of Maricopa, Arizona; 7 grandchildren: Angie Simms, Craig Johnson, Heather Henson, Shannon Bienvenu, Rusty Simms, Amanda Harper, and Andrew Kalkowski; 13 great-grandchildren: Logan, Kayla, Madison, Kiana, Keegan, Connor, Andre, Ainsley, Olivia, Caelen, Delia, Brandon, and Ayanna; and 2 sisters: Vera Craig (husband, the late Tom) and Clara Booth (husband, the late Sam), both of Flora.
She was additionally preceded in passing by 6 brothers: Glen, Charles, Richard, Rex, Benjamin, and an infant boy; and 4 sisters: Dorothy, Edith, Martha, and Kathryn.
