Cathy Sue Hartman, age 54, of Flora, Illinois, passed away Saturday, March 4, 2023, at Clay County Hospital.

      She was born March 3, 1969, in Flora, the daughter of Dewey and Mildred (Halterman) Waggoner.  She was united in marriage to Howard Allen Hartman on June 28, 2003, in Stewardson, and together they have shared 19 wedding anniversaries.

      Cathy worked for the Clay County Advocate Press for many years and later worked for Huck’s.  She was a member of Cornerstone Christian Church in Effingham, the Flora VFW Auxiliary, and the American Legion Auxiliary in Strasburg.  She loved to cook with her family and enjoyed being a Girl Scout leader for over 20 years.  Cathy cherished her time spent with family, especially at family dinners, and will be remembered by all who knew her as a loving and caring person.

      She is survived by her husband: Howard Allen Hartman of Flora; 5 daughters: Chrystal M. Hartman of Flora, Keah R. Hartman of Flora, Terry (Randy) McDonald of Charleston, Kelsey (Jay) Burton of Charleston, and Cierra Hartman of Windsor; several grandchildren; a sister: Bonnie M. Waggoner of Flora; and a nephew: Billy E. Waggoner II (Sian Kuester) of Salem.

      She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 brothers: Gene Waggoner and Billy E. Waggoner; and a sister: Elizabeth Ann Waggoner.

      A funeral ceremony will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday March 10, 2023, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora with Kevin Colclasure officiating.  Interment will follow in Oskaloosa Cemetery.  A visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.  Memorial donations are suggested to the family to assist with final expenses and will be accepted through the funeral home.  To share a condolence or memory, visit: www.frankandbright.com
