Funeral Ceremony: 11 a.m. Monday, August 8, 2022, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora
Interment: Shadden Cemetery, Xenia
Visitation: 6-8 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home
Myrtle Irene Beard, age 84, of Xenia, Illinois, passed away Tuesday afternoon, August 2, 2022, at the Burge House in Flora.
She was born July 6, 1938, in Songer Township, Clay County, the daughter of Lowell and Pauline (Krantz) Wyman. She was united in marriage to Harold Gene Beard on August 17, 1956, in Xenia, and together they shared 56 wedding anniversaries until his death March 11, 2013.
Myrtle was a homemaker and worked alongside Gene on the family farm. She enjoyed working in her yard tending to her garden and flowers. She always put her family first and treasured time spent with her grandchildren. She enjoyed canning and cooking and always looked forward to big family get togethers. Myrtle had attended the former First Baptist Church of Flora.
She is survived by her children: Pam (Bob) Goodman of Xenia, Russell (Trudy) Beard of Iuka, Janet Britton of Xenia, and Jane (Jim) Williams of Rinard; grandchildren: Jami (Aaron) Anderson, Joe (Larissa) Goodman, Ryan (Jessica) Beard, Tracie Beard (Austin Blocker), Emily (Jeramia) Blackwell, Jenny (Trey) Lopez, Olivia Walters, A.J. Casolari, Adam (Felicia) Casolari, Logan Williams, and Colton Williams; step-grandson: Devin (Avery) Williams; 16 great-grandchildren; 2 step great-grandchildren; 2 brothers: Basil Wyman of Xenia, and Howard (Connie) Wyman of Xenia; and a brother-in-law: Gale (Liz) Beard of Xenia.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband: Gene Beard; father and mother-in-law: George and Vera Beard; a sister: Helen Higgason; and a brother-in-law: Glen Beard.
A funeral ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, August 8, 2022, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora. Interment will follow in Shadden Cemetery, Xenia. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home. Memorial donations are suggested to Clay County Hospice or the Alzheimer’s Association and will be accepted through the funeral home.
