veteranApr 13th, 1931 - Apr 24th, 2022

Celebration of Life: 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 7, 2022, at Assembly of God Church in Flora

Visitation: 2-3 p.m. on Saturday at the church with military funeral honors presented at 2 p.m.

Pastor Lee Woods, age 91, of Flora, Illinois, passed away Sunday night, April 24, 2022, at his home.

He was born April 13, 1931, in Newton, the son of Jesse Lee and Gladys (Stoops) Woods.  He was united in marriage to Frances I. Laswell on November 19, 1954, in Las Vegas, Nevada and together they have shared 67 wedding anniversaries.

Lee served in the Navy for a year before transferring to the Air Force where he worked as a jet aircraft mechanic.  He served as Pastor at the Flora Assembly of God Church for 36 years but had been involved with the church since 1964.  God always came first with Lee, and he loved spreading the word.  He loved people and especially enjoyed time spent with his family, friends, and church family.  Lee always said, “if you want JOY in your life, put JESUS first, then OTHERS, and lastly YOURSELF.”  He  was a great example of a Godly man, and he will be remembered as a loving Pastor, husband, and father.  He enjoyed fishing, mushroom hunting, and traveling, especially out West.

He is survived by his wife: Frances Woods of Flora; son: David Woods of Flora; daughter: Paula Fatheree of Flora; grandchildren: Zachary (Vanessa) Fatheree of Xenia and Isaiah Fatheree of Flora; great-grandchildren: Maddie, Landen, Rayna, Avrie, Lilly, and Zaylee; great-great-grandchild: Willow; grand-dog: Marley; and a brother: Paul Woods of Charleston.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother: Bob Woods; and a sister: Bea Fields-Clark.

A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 7, 2022, at Assembly of God Church in Flora.  Visitation will be from 2-3 p.m. at the church with military funeral honors presented at 2 p.m.  Arrangements are by Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora.  Memorial donations are suggested to Flora Assembly of God Church and will be accepted through the funeral home.  To share a condolence or memory, visit: www.frankandbright.com

What do you say? Except what fun we know you are having walking the streets of gold. A wonderful Man of God, a teacher, a preacher always fulfilling his call upon his life sharing Jesus Christ and making sure you weren't planning for hell to be your eternal home. A man with wisdom and knowledge and knowing the bible like the back of his hand who could teach on Revelations with a new understanding each time. And how could we forget his favorite...Galations 5: 22-23 "The Fruit of the Spirit". Pastor, you were more than just our Pastor, you were our father, our grandfather, our family. You will sure be missed but wouldn't wish you back. Miss Fran, Paula, David, Zach, Vanessa and family, and Isaiah we love you and thinking of you. Shelly Allen Kaylee Allen and Patrick Dailey

I am sorry for your loss Paula, David and Fran. I don't have to tell you what a great man of God Lee was. He was compassionate toward the lost and led a good example for others to follow. I remember growing up when Brother Lee would fill in and preach on Sunday nights. I recall his rolling skating story of how to put God above all things, it stuck with me to this day! My parents Don and Shirley Sullens send their condolences as well.
