Pearl Young

Graveside Ceremony: 1 p.m. Tuesday, October 13, 2020, at Ingraham Cemetery

Visitation:  11 a.m. until 12 noon Tuesday at Frank & Bright Funeral Home

 

     Pearl Idell Young, age 101, of Flora, Illinois, passed away Friday morning, October 9, 2020, at Flora Gardens Care Center.

     She was born July 20, 1919, in Winterrowd, Jasper County, Illinois, the daughter of Charles and Eva (Welch) Benefield.  She married Harry F. Young on November 16, 1938, in Perryville, Missouri.  Harry preceded her in death on November 22, 2003, after 65 years of marriage.

     Pearl had worked in local retail stores, practiced as a beautician, and was a nursing home dietician.  She was a member of New Zion General Baptist Church where she had been active in the Ladies Quilting Group.

     She is survived by a daughter: Patsy (Virgil) Miller of Scottville; a son: Glenn Young (Toni Waddell) of Flora; 11 grandchildren; a number of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and 2 daughters-in-law: Connie Young and Leslie Young. 

     She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; 2 sons: Warren Lyle Young and Larry Young; a daughter-in-law: Cindi Young; a great-granddaughter; 4 brothers: Lowell, Lowden, Lyle, and Charles Robert Benefield; and 2 sisters: Bernice Pruitt and Alice Sipus.

     A graveside ceremony for Pearl Young will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, October 13, 2020, at Ingraham Cemetery, where interment will follow.  A visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 12 noon Tuesday at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora.  Memorials are suggested to New Zion General Baptist Church and will be accepted through the funeral home.  To share a memory or condolence, visit: www.frankandbright.com
