Catherine “Cathy” Elaine Sexton, age 55, of Flora, Illinois, passed away Wednesday, August 5, 2020, at her home.
She was born October 18, 1964, in Wilmington, Delaware. She was united in marriage to Ronald E. Sexton on April 29, 1986, in Kentucky, and together they have shared 34 wedding anniversaries.
Cathy was a smiling face at Flora Dairy Queen for 30 years where she especially enjoyed training high school students and being an active part of Miracle Treat Day each year. She was a member of the Sew Nifty Quilt Guild and Bloom Baptist Church. Cathy enjoyed camping, fishing, and making wonderful memories with her grandkids.
She is survived by her husband: Ron Sexton of Flora; children: Yvonne Marie Frencl (Johnie Russell) of Benton, KY, Brian Joseph Sexton of Palestine, and Shane Allen Sexton (Shannon Call) of St. Louis, MO; 7 grandchildren: Jordan, Cameron, Easton, and Aubrey Frencl, Trenton Sexton, and Maxwell and Maria Russell; parents: Richard and Shelby Cook of Flora; 3 brothers: Joseph (Karen) Anderson of Flora, Richard (Lesa) Cook Jr. of Flora, and John (Karyn) Anderson of Dover, DE; mother-in-law: Loretta Sexton of Robinson; sister-in-law: Linda Anderson of Philadelphia, PA; and several nieces and nephews also survive.
She was preceded in death by her father: Joseph Anderson Sr.; brother: Michael Anderson; and father-in-law: Harold J. Sexton.
A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday, August 8, 2020, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora. Visitation will be 2 until 6 p.m. on Saturday, August 8, 2020, at the funeral home. Social distancing guidelines are strongly encouraged. Heaven definitely gained another angel today. She will be missed by so very many. My prayers are with her family and friends.
So very sorry to hear of the passing of Cathy. She was always the smiling face you got to see at the window of Dairy Queen. She will always be remembered for her chipper, friendly attitude towards everyone.

Cathy was a light unto our world and brightened the day for everyone she met. Now she is rejoicing in Heaven with all the loved ones that have gone before her.

So sorry for the family of Cathy. I knew her as a young lady, and worked with her at Sparton's. Then several years later went thru the Drive up at DQ and there she was. Remembered me and called me by name and had a big smile on her face. She was a nice kind person. She will be missed by many. Prayers go out to all her family.

We are so saddened by the loss of Cathy. Aden referred to Cathy as his 2nd Mom. The love and support she showed Aden, not just at DQ but everyday, was such an inspiration and positive influence in his life. She touched so many lives with her smile and laughter. Cat was one of the best parts about working at Dairy Queen. I worked there with Shane, as well. Lots of great memories.💗 More recently, my husband and I have become friends with her nephew, Mike, and his wife Talon. We are so very sorry for your loss. She was a beautiful soul, inside and out. She will be missed, but the love she poured out will still live on with everyone that was lucky enough to know her.

Cathy was such a great person and saw the good in everyone. I have always loved and respected her. Her loss will forever impact our lives on earth but I take comfort knowing she is no longer suffering here on earth. Please say hi to my step dad, Mike and also please say hi to my wife Jen. Cathy hired me for my first job. We had so much fun behind the scenes at DQ. She was such a great, supportive and encouraging "grown up" for all of us teens that worked there.
I’ll miss seeing this sweet face at Dairy Queen. I always enjoyed talking to her and I never saw her without a smile. She treated the customers as friends. My heart aches for all her knew and loved her. RIP Cathy—you will be missed by so many!

It's clear that Cathy was loved in the community and in her family. I will never forget the times we spent together as children, and I was so happy that we were able to re-connect in our adult years. She will be missed, but most importantly, she will be remembered. Love, love, love to you all.
I got to know Cathy late in high school and have known her since. She was one of the nicest and kindest people i have known. My heart aches for her family, may you find peace during difficult times and may she rest in glory with our Lord Jesus.

On the saddest day of our lives... when our brother Harold died, we drove through the Dairy Queen... as we do before we go to the cemetery and as our father started to pay for our order she said, “This were on her today”... My father and mother broke into tears... her sincere compassion, caring and kindness was beyond measure! Our prayers go out to her family💗

This breaks my heart. Cathy was one of the 1st people I met when I moved here in 1992. Every morning I went to D.Q before work to get my diet coke. She was always smiling and so up beat. I loved going there cause she was always the happiest person and that helped me to make it through the day. I was such a regular I would pull up and she would say large diet coke extra ice. I truly will miss her. Prayers to her family. This community lost another wonderful person.
Cathy was truly a special person. Her smile and laughter could light up a room and her thoughtfulness knew no bounds. She will be missed by a great many of us. Deepest sympathies to her family.

This post is a few weeks late and I am crying at the loss of such a special woman. I didn't know she was sick. I met Cathy at Bloom Church. My husband had died and I was about to have a nervous breakdown. I saw the church was having a Revival, and I knew I had to go there. I was alone and in tears and Cathy had me sit by her. She put her arm around me during the service and tried to comfort me as I silently cried. I will never forget her kindness and empathy. She was truly an Angel on Earth as she is in Heaven.
