Noah Guerrettaz

Aug 11th, 1999 - Nov 20th, 2019

Noah Vincent Guerrettaz, age 20, of Springfield, Illinois, and formerly of Flora, died peacefully in the arms of his mother and father on November 20, 2019, after suffering a massive stroke a day earlier. He is deeply missed by his family, friends and all who knew him.  He was born August 11, 1999, in Batesville, Indiana, the first son of Vincent T. Guerrettaz and Josie A. Gill.

Noah enjoyed his family and many friends, loving them deeply; his “buddy” Cali (family cat) and many other cats in his life; playing acoustic and electric guitars as well as singing.  He recorded his own music and shared it with those closest to him.  Noah especially enjoyed the works of Elliott Smith, Jeff Buckley, Porcupine Tree, Nick Drake, Brian Eno, Genesis, Yes and recently, Tangerine Dream.  He had a passion for music of many varied genres and listened to music as often as possible.  Noah loved people and was friendly to everyone he met, accepting people from all walks of life.  His sense of humor was heartfelt and contagious.

Noah was a movie buff, loved Jeopardy on TV, enjoyed video games occasionally, and was an avid sports fan, especially basketball which he played often.  He enjoyed reading, walking at Lincoln Memorial Gardens, volunteering at Dumb Records in Springfield, writing his own music, and writing music album reviews for Metal Nexus.

He was confirmed in the Catholic faith in 2016 and enjoyed attending Mass regularly, especially the weekday masses at St. Jude Church in Rochester.

He is survived by his father: Vincent T. Guerrettaz of Springfield; mother: Josie A. Gill of Flora; siblings: Jordan E. Laker Oleson and husband Zach, Jonah R. Guerrettaz, and Sophia M. Guerrettaz; grandparents: Donald E. Guerrettaz and wife Judy of Indiana, E. Jean Guerrettaz and partner Mike Patridge of Flora, Bernie and Rose Born of Flora; aunts and uncles: Ryan and Karie Gill, Samuel E. Guerrettaz, Monica D. (Guerrettaz) McGrath, Nicole L. Guerrettaz, Al and Martha J. (Guerrettaz) Evans, Laurie L. Guerrettaz, Mark and Alisa M. (Guerrettaz) Hicks; and many great aunts and uncles, cousins, and nieces and nephews also survive.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather: Roland Gill.

A funeral mass for Noah Guerrettaz will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 27, 2019, at St. Stephen Catholic Church in Flora.  Burial will follow in St. Stephen Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 5 until 8 p.m. Tuesday evening, November 26, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home with a Rosary service to begin at 8 p.m.  Memorial donations are suggested to Fur A Good Paws in Flora, Flora Public Library, or Forever Home Feline Ranch in Rochester, Illinois, and will be accepted through the funeral home.
