
David Wayne Horsley, age 79, of Flora, Illinois, and formerly of West Frankfort, passed away peacefully in his sleep on June 17, 2026, at his home.
He was born October 28, 1946, in Herrin, the son of Earl Horsley Jr. and Lawana (Book) Horsley. He married Lonnie Marie Switzer on July 31, 1965, at the St. Nicholas of Tolentine Catholic Church in Chicago, Illinois. She preceded him in death on November 20, 2012.
Dave was a 1964 graduate of William Borgan High School in Chicago, Illinois. He was a long-haul driver for many years and worked alongside his father in the wood crafting business in West Frankfort. He was an avid duck hunter and bass fisherman and enjoyed participating in bass tournaments in his younger years. Dave had a deep love for Jesus and was a member of the Xenia Community Church. He will be remembered as a loving family man.
David is survived by his 2 daughters: Dawn Gray of Xenia and Heather Abernathy of Centralia; a brother: Bruce (Edie) Horsley of Xenia; a sister: Rozanne (Dennis) Schaefer of Texas; 5 grandchildren: Brian, Andrea, Allison, Cameron, and Cody; several great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews; and special friend: Sharon Davis.
He was preceded in passing by his parents, his beloved wife, Lonnie, and a son, Dean Horsley.
