John Jackson

      John Edward Jackson, age 90, of Flora, Illinois, passed away Saturday morning, February 28, 2026, at Clay County Hospital.

      He was born December 28, 1935, in Louisville, the son of William “Bill” E. Jackson and Aliene J. “Granny” (Jacobs) Jackson. John married Lena Marie Powless on June 2, 1961, at the First Christian Church in Flora, beginning a marriage that would span 64 anniversaries.

      John was a founding member of Emory Street Evangelical Methodist Church in Flora and helped construct the church building. His faith was a cornerstone of his life, and he remained a devoted and steadfast member of the congregation through the years. Throughout his working career, he served in parts management and distribution roles involving tractors and farm machinery, automobiles, and manufacturing equipment. His employment included French & Lawrence International Harvester in Fairfield, Richey Brothers Implement and Lincoln Auto Parts in Flora, and later Salem-Gravure/World Color Press. John especially enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and, most of all, spending time with his grandkids.

      John is survived by his wife, Lena Jackson of Flora; a daughter, Sandra Jackson of Cincinnati, Ohio; a son, Dale Jackson and wife Rebecca of Dalton City; and four grandchildren: Emma, Ellen, Audrey, and Ben Jackson. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Sally Lee; and a sister-in-law, Marjorie Powless.

      A funeral ceremony will begin at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 5, 2026, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora, with interment to follow in Golden Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 until 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 4, and from 10 until 11 a.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
