Juanita Peacher

Nov 30th, 1929 - Dec 25th, 2025

Juanita Peacher, born November 30, 1929, passed away at the age of 96 on December 25, 2025,  at St. Anthony’s Hospital in Effingham, Illinois, with her daughter Kathy by her side.

Juanita was united in marriage to Alfred Peacher, and they shared 63 years together before his passing. They were blessed with four children: a son, Gerald (Diana) Peacher; and three daughters, Judith (Chris) Bowlby, Kathy (Tom) Ham, and Kristie Peacher.

She was a proud grandmother to six grandchildren: Brian, Lori (Tim), John, Russ, Ryan (Courtney), and Nathan (Carla); fourteen great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren, all of whom she adored.

Juanita was one of eight siblings, along with: Violet (Ray) Stanford, Lola (Lou) Wilkins, Virginia (Bishop) Cummings, William (Elsie) Hinkle, Patricia (Galen) Kessel, Thomas (Ruth) Hinkle, and Sue (Charles) Hemrich. She also leaves behind many loved nieces and nephews, including special niece caregivers Kay and Gayle.

A lifelong member of Red Brush Christian Church, Juanita attended the original church with her parents as a child and later helped build the present church alongside her husband. She devoted many years to teaching Bible school and provided daycare from her home for 30 years. Juanita faithfully read the Bible from cover to cover each year and enjoyed knitting and crocheting.

Formerly of Flora, Juanita resided at Brookstone Estates Assisted Living in Effingham for the past three years, where she enjoyed Bible study, arts and crafts, and treasured the friendships she formed with residents and staff.

Strong and fiercely independent, Juanita persevered through eight years of hemodialysis at DaVita, remaining an inspiration to those around her. She was deeply loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed, especially by her dear friend Pauline.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Ina (Porter) Hinkle; her husband, Alfred Peacher; her son, Gerald Peacher; an infant daughter, Kristie Peacher; her brother, William “Bill” Hinkle; sisters, Violet Stanford, Lola Wilkins, and Virginia Cummings; and two nieces, Pamela and Kay.
