Emma was a marvelous homemaker for her family of four children. Cooking, canning, gardening, sewing, and crocheting were among her special talents. She was very involved in the family farm business, often helping her husband Bill during the planting and harvest seasons. She provided a good example for her children, who learned from her the importance of hard work, perseverance, and dedication, while also giving them a loving and caring upbringing. Emma enjoyed travel resulting from her husband Bill’s membership and offices held in the Illinois Farm Bureau. Emma served one year as chairperson of Clay County Farm Bureau Women’s Committee. During the annual winter break from farming Emma and Bill enjoyed many extended vacations in south Texas, but were always happy to come back to their farming community.
