     Donald L. " DJ " Wells, Jr. of Monmouth, Illinois, formerly of Flora, passed away on Friday March 18, 2022, at 12:20 a.m. at OSF St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg. Donald was born on September 7, 1968, in Monmouth and was the son of Donald Wells, Sr. and Mary Sue Darnell Wells. He attended local schools and graduated from Monmouth High School with the class of 1986. Donald previously was married to Teresa Cassiday and they had one son, Matthew Wells, also of Monmouth. He moved to Flora fifteen years ago, when he met his partner, Mark Lagle. Donald or "DJ" has worked as a CNA most of his life, in Monmouth and in Flora. He loved working with people. He enjoyed fishing, camping and socializing with family and friends. He is survived by his parents, Mary Sue Wells of Monmouth, Illinois and his father, Donald L. Wells, Sr. of Monmouth. His son, Matthew Wells and Sadie Lynn Shamblin also of Monmouth, his life partner, Mark Lagle of Flora, his sister, Heather Wells of Monmouth,  his stepdaughter, Ashley Landreth of Flora, one grandson, Keith Wells and one granddaughter, Lucille Wells, three stepgrandchildren, one niece, Sadie Lynn Shauman and Andrew Stombaugh, and one nephew, Jeff Shauman in Cincinnati, Ohio, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. "DJ" is preceded in his death by Mary and Charles Wells and George and Eva Darnell. 

     Cremation is being accorded for Donald and a celebration of his life will be held Saturday, April 9th 2022, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm at the J.W. Clendenin Post 2301 Veterans of Foreign Wars Post of Monmouth. All family and friends are invited and a memorial fund is to be established later by his family.
