Imogene Wyman

     Imogene Marie Wyman, age 89, of Xenia, Illinois, passed away early Friday morning, February 25, 2022, at Flora Rehabilitation & Health Care Center. 

     She was born April 23, 1932, in Xenia, the daughter of Everett and Helen (Akes) Carrell.

     Imogene was an avid gardener, spending countless hours canning and making the food that her family would eat throughout the winter.  She was especially fond of making and eating canned sweet pickles.  She was a member of the Xenia United Methodist Church where she belonged to the ladies sewing group.  She enjoyed sewing and quilting, having always made all of her children’s clothing and numerous quilts that she had gifted over the years.  She enjoyed working puzzles, crossword puzzles, and word searches.  Imogene enjoyed going to community events and listening to music, playing her Baldwin organ, and playing card and board games with her grandkids.  She was always the go-to babysitter and cherished memories made while spending time with her kids and grandkids.  

     She is survived by her children: Joyce (Pat) O’Donnell of Xenia, Peggy (Randy) Borcherding of Xenia, Jo Ella (D.J.) Delak of Leighton, Alabama; 6 grandchildren: Angela (Frank) Edwards of Xenia, Lee (Brooke) O’Donnell of Flora, Jason (Erin) Borcherding of Flora, Gina (Cory) Heuerman of Flora, Scott (Shannon) Fatheree of Xenia, Jeannie Fatheree of Alabama; 17 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

     She was preceded in death by her parents; and siblings: Bill, Jack, Don, and Charlie Carrell, and Ruth Phillips.

     A funeral ceremony will be held at 12 noon on Monday, February 28, 2022, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora with Dave Merrihew officiating.  Interment will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Xenia.  A visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until 12 noon on Monday at the funeral home.  Memorial donations are suggested to Clay County Cancer Crusaders and will be accepted through the funeral home.  To share a condolence or memory, visit: www.frankandbright.com
