Joy Boston

   Paytina “Joy” Boston, age 76, of Xenia, Illinois, passed away Thursday evening, July 15, 2021, at Deaconess Midtown Hospital in Evansville, Indiana.

   She was born August 26, 1944, in Effingham, Illinois, the daughter of Payton James and Norma J. “Jackie” (Aldrich) McGivney. 

   Joy had worked at the shoe factory, at Flora Manor, and later at Livingston Manor starting out as a basic housekeeper and working her way up to Supervisor.  She enjoyed watching wrestling and soap operas, fishing, and playing bingo.  Joy loved to be outside and cherished memories of her trips to Las Vegas.  She was a mother, grandmother, and best friend to all.    

   She is survived by her life friend: Junior Goff of Xenia; children: Tammy Hays of Xenia and Debra Murphy of Salem; siblings: Angela (Ed) Hinkle of Xenia, Jane (Larry) Albert of Iuka, Kathy (late husband Jim) Riley of Forrest, and Payton James of Flora; grandchildren: Jessica (Mitch) Rothrock of Effingham, Amber Persinger of Xenia, Kristi Goff (Billy Schlosser) of Mattoon, and Jessica Goff (Daniel South) of Enfield; loving and caring best friend: Susan Spitz; special friend: Nancy Bayles; numerous other grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a son-in-law: Rodney Persinger of Flora.

   She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter: Tina Persinger; and siblings: John McGivney and Jerry Lee “Pate” McGivney. 

   A funeral ceremony will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, July 19, 2021, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora.  Interment will follow in Christian Home Cemetery, Louisville.  Visitation will be 11 a.m. until time of service on Monday at the funeral home.  Memorial donations are suggested to the family for a memorial fund and will be accepted through the funeral home.  To share a memory or condolence visit: www.frankandbright.com
