Lee Roy Cruse

   Lee Roy Cruse, age 88, of Flora, Illinois, passed away Tuesday morning, December 1, 2020, at Flora Rehabilitation & Health Care Center.

   He was born April 9, 1932, in Louisville, Illinois, the son of Ozro and Faye (Coatney) Cruse.  He was united in marriage to Lorene Spiker on August 19, 1954, in Louisville, and together they shared 54 years of marriage until her death June 18, 2009.

   Lee Roy served in the Army during the Korean War.  He worked at the shoe factory for 27 years and then for the City of Flora for over 20 years without missing a single day of work.  He was a dedicated worker and truly enjoyed his last years working for the City at Charley Brown Park.

   He is survived by his children: Rick (Debbie) Cruse of Morrisonville, Kathy “Gertie” (Jay) Griffith of Louisville, and Ronnie (Amy) Cruse of Highland, Indiana; grandchildren: Sara Griffith, Rikki Ann Holding, Crystal Hatley, Christopher Cruse, Stephanie Hawkins, Amanda Cruse, Jessica Simmons, and Riley Cruse; several great-grandchildren; a sister: Mary Whitworth of Selah, Washington; and several nieces and nephews also survive.

   He was preceded in death by his parents; wife: Lorene Cruse; great-granddaughter: Alyssa Holding; sisters: Ruby Eckel, Helen Woodruff, Rita Drake, and an infant sister; and brothers: David Cruse, Lyle Cruse, Dale Cruse, Archie Cruse, and an infant brother.  

   A graveside ceremony will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, December 5, 2020, at Elmwood Cemetery with the presentation of military funeral honors.  Those attending are asked to arrive directly at the cemetery.  Arrangements are in the care of Frank & Bright Funeral Home.  Memorial donations are suggested to the local chapter of the D.A.V. and will be accepted through the funeral home.  To share a memory or condolence visit: www.frankandbright.com
