Irva Mae Hibbitt, age 96, of Flora, Illinois, passed away Thursday, April 19, 2018, at Flora Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Flora.

Irva was born August 11, 1921, in Hope, Indiana, the daughter of Ira and Elizabeth (Ford) Neville. She was a longtime resident of Columbus, Indiana, and moved to Flora in 1980. Irva loved her family and all of her grandchildren were important to her. She worked as a beautician for 35 years, enjoyed Don Ho music, dancing, and was of the Baptist faith. She was a past member of Clay County Hospital Auxiliary, Flora Women’s Club, and Zonta International Service Organization.

She is survived by her daughter: Beverly Schwaninger of Flora; grandchildren: Susan Carrell of Las Vegas, NV, Shari (Kim) Hamilton of Flora, Stacy (Les) Higgason of Flora, and Patrick Hibbitt of San Diego, CA; great-grandchildren: Stephanie (Ryan) Mitchell, Chad (fiancée Kim) Schwaninger, Bethany (Chet) Stuemke, Gregory Boose, Derek (Hollie) Drew, Karlee Carrell, Jordan Carrell, Heath (fiancée Emily) Hamilton, Stephen (Rosie) Hamilton, Maegan (Heath) Bryan, Shawn (Troy) Kirby, Jeff (Michelle) Higgason, Brent (Jordie) Higgason, and Cameron Higgason; great-great-grandchildren: Joanna, Nora, Tysha, Ashlyn, Keatan, Kierstan, Carder, Ayanna, Jaysie, Ma’Liyah, Hoyt, Payton, Presley, Charles, Philip, Grant, Lyndi, Logan, Madison, Lennon, Maggie, Brooklyn, and Jack; great-great-great-grandchildren: Jocelyn, Sterling, and Avayah.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son: Wendell Hibbitt; son-in-law: Steve Schwaninger; grandson: Stephen Brent Schwaninger; and siblings: Virgil Neville, Lawrence (Ivone) Neville, Irene (Raymond) Snyder, and Norma (Ray) Nagel.

A funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday, April 22nd, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora with Bill Atwood officiating. Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12 Noon until 2 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be given to Flora Rehabilitation and Health Care Center Activity Fund and will be accepted through the funeral home.
