Bill Schoonover

     William “Bill” Leo Schoonover, age 75, of St. Louis, Missouri, formerly of Flora, Illinois, passed away at his home on Sunday, September 10, 2017.

     Bill was born September 4, 1942, in Alton, Illinois, the son of David Howard and Agnes Marie (Walton) Schoonover.  He was united in marriage to Donna Gail Richardson Garrett on September 4, 1965, in Flora, and together have shared 52 years of marriage. 

     Bill was a graduate of Flora High School.  He went on to work for White-Rodgers, a division of Emerson, and retired after 44 years of service.  Bill enjoyed genealogy, wine, travel, Blues hockey, and following all forms of sports.

     He is survived by his wife: Donna Schoonover; daughter: Laura Michele Schoonover; sister: Maria Elena “Button” Pemberton (husband Tom); estranged brother: Stephen Howard Schoonover (wife Gayle); 2 sisters-in-law: Kay Sharon Spitzner and Shelley Margaret Garrett Smith; along with a number of nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents; his father-in-law and mother-in-law: Sterling “Pat” Garrett and Thelda (Anderson) Garrett Garner; and a niece and 2 nephews.

     A Celebration of Life Gathering for Bill Schoonover will be 2-3 p.m. Saturday, November 4, 2017, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora.  Interment will take place at Odd Fellows Cemetery, Xenia.  Memorial donations in Bill’s memory may be made to Siteman Cancer Center or the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and will be accepted through the funeral home.  To share a condolence or memory with the family, visit www.frankandbright.com.
