Carolyn Dillman

     Carolyn Sue Dillman, age 73, of Flora, Illinois, passed away Sunday, February 12, 2017, at Clay County Hospital in Flora.

      She was born April 12, 1943, in Flora, the daughter of Claude and Ora Mae (Salter) Dillman.

     Carolyn is survived by one brother: William (husband of late sister-in-law Barbara) Dillman of Carmi; one sister-in-law: Callie (wife of late brother John T.) Dillman; 12 nieces and nephews: Judy Diane (husband Tim) Beadles, Dr. Stephen (wife Glenda) Dillman, Gealean (husband Skip) Irwin, Dr. John Craig (wife Lynn) Dillman, Thomas Allen (wife Brenda) Dillman, Emily Dillman, Haley Dillman, Marcia (husband Gary) Ridenour, Gary Wayne Dillman, Larry (wife Debbie) Douthit, Gina Douthit, and Kayla (husband Kevin) Steele; two step-nieces and one step-nephew: Brandi Douthit, Christina (husband Jack) Eisaman, and Mark Forth; three spouses of her late nieces and nephews including: Glen (husband of late niece Durlene) Schieman, Bobbie (wife of late nephew Jerry) Dillman, and Mary (wife of late nephew Danny) Douthit;  numerous great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews; as well as a special circle of close friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers: Durlen “Dale” (husband of late sister-in-law Betty) Dillman, and John T. Dillman; one sister: Thelma Eileen (wife of late brother-in-law Troy Eugene) Douthit; one niece and two nephews: Durlene Schieman, Jerry Dillman, and Danny Douthit; and two great-nephews: Brent Shroyer and Gregory Dillman.

     Carolyn was employed and retired from Clay County Hospital as a certified Physical Therapy Aide.  She was a dedicated member of First Church of God in Flora and had served as church Treasurer.  In recent years, she was a great supporter of Fur A Good Paws, and was devoted in sharing her love and affection with her cats.  Serving as an election judge for many years was a role very important to her, and she was a familiar face around Grandma’s Kitchen restaurant in Flora.  Carolyn appreciated beautiful music and enjoyed singing.  She will be remembered fondly as a kind friend and as a caring aunt that offered support and compassion like a mother, as she helped raise and nurture her nieces and nephews.

     A funeral service for Carolyn Dillman will be held at 12 noon Saturday, February 18, 2017, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora.  Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the hour of service on Saturday at the funeral home.  Memorial donations are suggested to Fur A Good Paws, and these will be accepted through the funeral home.
