Lenora Carrell

   Lenora Carrell, 100, of Danville, Illinois, peacefully stepped onto Heaven’s shore on Monday, October 17, 2016, at 12:46 p.m.

   Lenora was born on July 25, 1916, to Elmer and Stella (Cunningham) Snell in Flora, Illinois.  She married Harold Carrell in 1935.  They had four sons and two daughters: Edwin Carrell (deceased); Howard (Peggy) Carrell of Danville, David (Florence) Carrell of Springfield, Charlotte Wilson of Urbana, Paul Carrell (deceased), Nancy (David) Carpenter of Columbus, Ohio, and Shirley Hanley of Panama City, Florida.  Lenora is survived by the following grandchildren: Vicki (David) Blackwell of Flora, Pam (Kenneth) Nichols of Tilton, Gary Carrell of Danville, Marcy Carrell of Georgetown, Jon (Stephanie) Carrell of Belleville, Todd (Stacy) Carrell of Terre Haute, Indiana, Jeremy (Jenny) Carrell of Springfield, Heather (Jon) Feekes of Springfield, Shane (Michelle) Wilson of Benton, Tennessee, Matthew (Claire) Carrell of Amherst, New York, Steve Carrell of Garland, Texas, Deborah (Bob) Smith of St. Mary’s, Ohio, Timothy (Stephanie) Carrell of Elyria, Ohio, Teresa Moore of Panama City, Florida, and Christopher (Trisha) Kmucha of Richwood, West Virginia.  She is also survived by several dozen great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

   Lenora was preceded in death by her husband: Rev. Harold Carrell; two sons: Edwin and Paul; and three brothers: Everett, Robert, Gilbert; and one sister: Esther.

   She enjoyed her role as the wife of the pastor, working with children, leading Bible studies and planning and organizing special events for the children in her neighborhood.  She loved gardening and cooking, especially participating in church dinners and the quilting groups.

   A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, October 21, 2016, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home, 500 N. Main St., Flora, Illinois.  Rev. Jon Carrell, Lenora’s grandson, will officiate.  Interment will be in Kneff Cemetery, Flora.  Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
