Berklee Pickens

   Berklee Ryan James Pickens, precious19-month-old son of Lee and Shaina (Borton) Pickens of Flora, took flight by angel’s wings to heaven on Saturday, August 6, 2016.  He was born January 5, 2015, in Mt. Vernon.

   He loved spending time outdoors this summer playing with his adoring big sisters and his buddies Pete, the dog, and Izzy, the cat, getting to ride on the 4-wheeler, swimming in the pool, and helping mom water the flowers.  His smile beamed when he laughed and he really enjoyed moving and dancing to music.  Berklee charmed others with his especially cute looks, often trying out hats and sunglasses.  He is forever loved.

   Berklee is survived by his parents: Lee and Shaina Pickens of Flora;  his big sisters: Alyson and Aliyah at home; paternal grandparents: Nick and Marsha Pickens of Sailor Springs; maternal grandmother: Lisa Davis of Clay City; paternal great-grandparents: James Pickens, Don Hamilton, and Gerald Jones (Nancy Coughlin); paternal uncle and aunts: Bryan Pickens (Sarah), Stephanie Pickens (Jake Frank), Cora Pickens (Nate Flexter); maternal aunts and uncles: Shannon Borton, Brianna Burgess, Taylor Davis, Tonya Rudolph, Abbey Borelli; paternal great-aunts and great-uncles: Janet Jones, Greg Jones, Randy Pickens (Barb), Sterling Pickens (Julie); maternal great-aunts and great-uncles: Cindy Eskew (Albert), Chris Lancaster, Tony Morkin, Junior Eskew; and many cousins on both sides of the family.

   He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather: Dennis Borton and his wife Teresa; paternal great-grandmothers: Barbara Pickens Hamilton and Sharon Jones; maternal great-grandparents: Coy and Sue Eskew, and Betty Jean Borton and husband Frederick; and a cousin, Colin.

   A funeral service for Berklee Pickens will be 10 a.m. Thursday, August 11, 2016, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home, Flora, with Bob McNeely officiating.  Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery, Flora.  A visitation will be Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. at Frank & Bright Funeral Home.  Memorial donations may be given to the family to assist with expenses.
