Anita Parish

   Anita Kay Parish, age 71, of Flora, Illinois, passed away Wednesday morning, June 22, 2016, at her home in Flora.

   Anita was born May 1, 1945, in Salem, the daughter of Johnnie and Ruby (Lee) Cantrell.  She married Rodney Ray Parish on November 18, 1988, in Marion, Kentucky.  He preceded her in death May 23, 2014.  Over the years, Anita worked as a waitress at the Ranch Steakhouse in Flora and was a cook and cashier at her daughter’s restaurants in Orchardville and Wayne City.  She was a member of Pleasant Mound General Baptist Church in Xenia and will be lovingly remembered as a “Tough Old Bird”. 

   Anita is survived by her children: Diane Vest (Ralph) of Johnsonville, Sandy Baker (Mike) of Keenes, and Daphne Urbanski (Frank) of Xenia; step-children: Rodney “J.R.” Parish Jr. (Emily) of Xenia, Sandra Morales (Perry) of Pleasant, TX, and Cecil Eugene “Buster” Parish of Flora; 15 grandchildren: Heather Stephenson, Melanie Brookman, Ashley Rightnowar, Casey Baker, Thadius Urbanski, Desiree Pursley, Justin Parish, Quaden Noblet, Justin Holden, Levi Holden, Colton Holden, Tori Holden, Eathan Parish, CJ Parish, and Ginger Parish; and 10 great-grandchildren: Nathan Rector, Samantha Brookman, Mikenzie Alvis, Shaley Rightnowar, Londynn Pontious, Memphis Pontious, Ayden Pursley, Alex Pursley, Jaden Parish, and Gavin Parish; and a very good friend: Joyce Watson.  Her dogs, Sherry, Abbey, and Angie along with her cats and a goose were also a very special part of Anita’s family.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a brother: Eddie Cantrell, and a grandson: Joshua Baker. 

   A funeral service for Anita Parish will be 1 p.m. Monday, June 27, 2016, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home, Flora, with visitation from 11 a.m. until the hour of service on Monday.  Interment will follow in Powers Cemetery, Xenia.  Memorial donations may be given to Clay County Animal and Rescue Shelter (CCARS) or to Daphne for the future care of Anita's pets and these donations will be accepted at the funeral home.  To share a condolence with the family, visit www.frankandbright.com.
