Donna Lois Chaney, age 93, of Flora, Illinois, passed from this life on Saturday evening, September 12, 2026, at the home of her granddaughter, Emily Stortzum and husband Steve.

Donna was born January 2, 1933, in Flora, the daughter of William Henry and Eva Lois (Billington) Robertson of Rinard, Illinois.  She married William "Bill" Chaney of Flora, in 1951, and together they celebrated 73 wedding anniversaries.  They were the parents of 3 children: Brax, Terry and Jay.

Donna attended Flora High School and was a member of the Flora United Methodist Church.

Her career path included working as a legal secretary at the law offices of Meyer & Meyer in Flora; working at Bill's Cleaners, which was owned and operated by her husband with his partner and long-time friend, Bill Seelman; she also became a real estate broker and worked with her husband in Bill Chaney Real Estate, which they owned & operated for many years.

In their younger years, along with her husband, Bill, she enjoyed camping, boating and water skiing.  Many weekends included gathering with family and groups of friends for a day of fellowship, water skiing and cookouts.  Another favorite pastime was traveling to Branson with family & friends to enjoy the shows.  Donna also enjoyed her gal-pals and their monthly pinochle club get-togethers.

Donna was the most amazing mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.  She will always be remembered for her generosity, kindness, and deep love for her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Bill; son: Brax; grandson: Josh Bailey; sister-in-law: Jean Shehorn; brother-in-law: Mike Chaney; and many friends.

She leaves to mourn her passing her children: Terry (Sam) Bailey and Jay (Kim) Chaney; grandchildren: Seth Bailey, Emily (Steve) Stortzum, Hannah Chaney and Ryan Chaney; 4 great-grandchildren: Jacob Bailey, and Molly, Cameron, and Hattie Stortzum; sister-in-law: June Chaney; and many friends.

Her passing leaves a huge hole in the fabric of our lives.  We were always so proud of her, and we always knew we could depend on her for good advice, support, and lots of love, no matter what.  If we could give her something, it would be the love we will always hold in our hearts for her.

There will be no services.  Private interment will take place in Elmwood Cemetery.  Arrangements are by Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora.  Memorial donations are suggested to Full Armor Christian Academy, and these will be accepted through the funeral home.  To share a condolence or memory, visit: www.frankandbright.com
