Karrie Jane Young, age 65, of Cape Coral, Florida, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, September 5, 2026, surrounded by loved ones.
She was born March 16, 1961, in Flora, Illinois, the daughter of Francis Gale Clark and Dorothy Joann (Bay) Buckner. On March 27, 1993, she married Jeffrey S. Young in Springfield, Tennessee. Over the next 33 years, Karrie and Jeff built a life together centered around family and the many memories they made through the years.
Karrie devoted much of her life to caring for others. For many years, she and her husband owned and operated an assisted living home, where her natural gift for nurturing and caring for others touched countless lives. Even after moving away from Illinois, caring for others remained an inseparable part of who she was. Karrie had a beautiful way with people and an extraordinary ability to make others feel welcome, understood, and cared for. She opened both her home and her heart to anyone in need and was always a reliable shoulder to cry on, someone to vent to, or simply a safe place to land. She listened without judgment, cared deeply, and gave so much of herself to those around her.
Karrie was warm, caring, thoughtful, and deeply empathetic, but she was also incredibly funny and full of life. She loved Disney, diamond art, soap operas, and, above all, being a grandmother. Time spent with her grandchildren meant more than anything to her and could always brighten her day. To those who knew and loved her, she will be remembered not only for the care she gave others, but also for the joy, compassion, and love she brought into their lives.
She is survived by her husband Jeff Young of Cape Coral, Florida; children: Nathaniel Young of Fort Myers, Florida, Sean Young of Cape Coral, Florida, and Vanessa (Lucas) Pereyra of Coconut Creek, Florida; 4 grandchildren: Kaleya Porter, Kylar Porter, David Ilcheva, and Parker Pereyra; siblings: Diana (Mike) Russell, Mary (Lee) Cox, Connie (Gerry) Clements, Sharon Clark Lewis (James Coulston), Toni (Gilbert) Lee, Michael (Rachael) Clark, and Rebecca (Mat) Byers; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.
She was preceded in passing by her daughter: Heather Young Porter; mother: Dorothy Joann Buckner; father: Francis Gale Clark; an infant brother; a brother: Terry Clark; 2 brothers-in-law: Mike Russell and Gerry Clements; a nephew: Scott Clements; and a niece: Stephanie Lewis.
