
Richard Earl Allen, age 54, of Terre Haute, Indiana, passed away at 4:10 a.m. on Friday, September 4, 2026, at Union Hospital in Terre Haute, Indiana.
He was born February 23, 1972, in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, the son of Charles Edwin Allen and Elizabeth Jean Taylor.
Richard was a kind and loving man with a wonderful sense of humor. He was hardworking and strong-natured, with a determined and independent spirit, and enjoyed sharing stories and reminiscing about good times with family and friends. His infectious smile and friendly personality brought joy to many whose paths he crossed over the years. Richard worked for Burger King franchises for more than 30 years before retiring. He also held a special place in his heart for his animal babies, including Luna, Cali, Boots, and many others.
He is survived by his siblings, Charles (Lupe) Allen, Lynn Jones, Stacey (Rick) Wilken, Chuck Allen Jr., Jonathan Allen, and Mary (Bob) Cole; as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, coworkers, and close friends.
He was preceded in passing by his father, Charles E. Allen Sr.; his mother, Elizabeth Jean Taylor; and a sister, Bertha Taylor.
A funeral ceremony will begin at 11 a.m. on Thursday, September 10, 2026, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora. Visitation will take place from 10 until 11 a.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Oskaloosa Cemetery. Everyone is also welcome to a Celebration of Life gathering beginning at 4 p.m. Thursday afternoon at the Dongola Community Center in Dongola, Illinois.
