Wayne Fatheree, age 78, of Flora, Illinois, passed away early Friday morning, July 18, 2025, at Axiom Healthcare in Flora.
Wayne was born June 6, 1947, in Flora, the son of the late Gerald and Pansy C. (Brown) Fatheree. He married Edith “Eddi” Jane Greene in 1991 and together they shared 34 years of marriage until her passing just a few days earlier on Monday, July 14, 2025.
Wayne had served in the United States Army from 1967 to 1969, and was a member of Louisville American Legion Post 914. He spent most of life behind the wheel as a truck driver for several trucking companies including Pillsbury, Richard Smith Trucking in Geff, Glover Farms in Mt. Erie, and most recently, Lone Oaks Farms in Wayne City. He enjoyed watching NASCAR and was meticulous about caring for his yard and vehicles.
Wayne is survived by his sons: Dusty Fatheree (Donnita Lewis) of Flora, and Jody D. Fatheree of Amarillo, Texas; a grandson: Race Fatheree of Amarillo, Texas; special cousin: Evelyn Isom (Gary Williams) of Salem; and special friend: Brad (Chelsea) Marlow of Flora.
A funeral ceremony for Wayne and Eddi Fatheree will begin at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora with Cliff Chaffee officiating. Interment will follow in Powers Cemetery, Xenia, with the presentation of military funeral honors. A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, July 30.
